yeah, the 1980's model of the M6 (mmm.... sharknose ) had indiv. butterflies too

now it's a guaranteed (but expensive) way of adding lots of hp to todays honda motors through the aftermarket

Doesn't the upcoming Audi RS4 also rev over 8000 rpm?

What's the deal with the electronic lateral-G sensor and electric oil pumps that move oil from one cylinder bank to another? Why not KISS and use a dry sump system to prevent starvation???

The new RS4 does 8250 - same as the new M5. Although if you're going to make the comparison, the RS6 is the the M5's only natural predator. The new RS6 will contain a Lamborghini V10, so it should give the new M5 a good run...

Oh, I wasn't making a true comparison. I was just pointing out another large displacement motor that turns some high RPMs. I think that's where the similarities end. The new RS6 might compete in a straight line, but I'd guess that Audi makes it into more of an autobahn runner because that's what they usually do. Heavy and safe with understeer and AWD. That's great for most people. Will it use the same V10 as the upcoming S8?

I doubt it. That article says the new S8 will use a Lambo V10, but with only 450hp. The previous RS6 made 450 (with a biturbo vee eight), so I imagine that in a newer model, it would have to make a few more ponies...

I heard and saw (mostly heard) a new M5 pull away from the toll plaza on the Dulles Toll Road. He was 4-5 lanes over, and a few hundred yards in front, but the sound of that exhaust still caught my attention. Plus, there was the spaceship-like acceleration. I want one.

Audi is coming with a V10 for the new RS6. NOt as much grunt but 4wd. Lighter engine. Since F1 can't run 'em everyone else will?? (ok, they can, but with a rev limiter)
