SW chip reflash?
So I “think” I know the answer to my question, but... I took my engine, 3.2, down to the long block, and then dropped it off at a local aircooled specialist to have the block rebuilt. It saved a bunch of money on the removal and disassembly end of things. Plus, it means someone who actually knows what they are doing took care of the finer details. During the rebuild the engine was found to have some putting on the camshafts, so they were sent off to be reground, and I chose to go to 964 cam grind. My exhaust is stainless heater boxes similar to the old BB exhaust, and a 2 in 2 out muffler (no emissions in TN). I also had a Steve Wong chip for the exhaust. I assume when it all comes back, and now with the 964 grind that I need to have my SW chip shipped off to be flashed for the new camshafts. Is that correct?
Thanks

Best thing is to have it dyno'd with the chip in it then send it off to SW. He takes it from there.

If you're going to have it dyno'd, then why not take it BEHE, where he can dyno and do a chip at the same time. BEHE can then emulate the chip on his computer, with different chip parameters, see how it affects performance via the dyno, and then burn a chip with the most desirable results.

Behe is unique. There is NO ONE ELSE like him (that's both good and bad... ). Agree he does amazing work with those chips, though. As I was telling Evan yesterday, he found issues with my former black race car and increased HP to the wheels by 25 (you read that correctly, 190 HP to 215 HP - that is a very noticeable difference).

Yeah there isn’t a local guy that I know of for chip tuning on old a/c 911s. There is one that advertises for newer water cooled Porsche. But they also advertise lift kit install which makes me wonder. I’ve also never had a car worth dynoing so...

Personally, I would just ship the chip back to Steve Wong with your new engine specs and let him refresh the chip for you. Probably a nominal cost but well worth it. I have a 3.2 with 964 cams, SS large tube heat exchangers and muffler as well as a spec'd SW chip and the motor is strong.
