I wonder if Tony is referring to this car??? This is Kathy Downs with her 968 at Chesapeake Regions 50th Anniversary shindig, back in 2011. The picture doesn't quite do justice to the car, but I am pretty sure it is not the same color as Steve's new acquisition. If I remember correctly, the interior of Kathy's car looked as good as the exterior.

Thanks all. My first job getting it home was to get the trunk open. Neither the button in the footwell or the key would open the trunk since the key just basically turns a cam that activates a microswitch to turn on the motor that pulls the cable. Tried all the obvious, fuse, relay, etc. So I decided to crawl int he "backseat" area and flip down the seat backs and reach in thru the 8" tall opening and try to reach the latch and manually move the lever. Well my arms are only about foot too short. Made a hook type apparatus out of a trim removal tool screwed to a 2x4. Was able to pull the carpet down and get a light and mirror and long pry bar in just the right spot to pull it open after about an hour of gripeing, cussing, and general crankyness. Took the motor out and cleaned the armature and motor came back to life. Later figured out there is a secret pull cord located inside the quarter panel and accessed by removing the vent cover in the door latch area. Of course it wasn't in the right spot so another hour spent fishing it out and routing to the proper location. Cleaned the trunk carpet and glued up some of the carpet that had come loose under the rear package tray. On to the next item on the long list of to-do's on this car.

Pretty car, Steve. Good luck with the rehab.

And you don't need long hair to drive a convertible. Just wear a hat like I do.
