BAH has gotten some real bashing on Craigslist R&R. Is it a real Kool-Aid kinda place to work? My new gig is. More acronyms and jargon than the Pentagon uses.

Quote:
TOOOO many to count and not enough investigators and too much red tape. about 1+ year for DOD, 1- 1 1/2 it seems for ts/+...It all depends on the 3 letter agency. I have heard 3+ years or as short as 3 months for a buddy of mine with a Full scope polygraph.(Depends on you and the skeletons you hide!!) TS and higher fetches a pure premium in these parts (NOVA, MD, DC other sporadic cities) and yes it is the golden ticket in anything you do....I have seen requests in the washington post for landscapers needing a Full lifestyle poly...not to bad on pay 14+ an hour Gov't pays for it...Not the company. Subs need the contract vehicle...Only primes can get the govies to sponsor..(Someone xplained it to me).Not sure any one individual knows the FULL process. Many companies in the last year or so got burned on the overhead for bringing on people and letting them sit in the tank for a year+ waiting for them to get cleared and some not getting cleared. Usually your company will ask you to do it. It is a real cluster F^%$ since 911...every agency has started some form of requirement for clearance..

Yeah, That is one of biggest myths that I have always heard people throw around to employees on how it costs the company $10K to get them cleared... pure BS. Gov't does all the work, company just files the paperwork and follows up. Wife got her TS/ISSA in about 3 months after being inactive for 6-7 years when we previously left the DC area. It all depends on "who" wants you cleared. I've been inactive for about the same. -P |
