Default 951 / 944 Rear Hatch Reseal

I am thinking this is one task I don't really want to do myself. Are there any local shops that will reaffix the rear hatch glass to its frame? Mine is in pretty bad shape and would like to consider a pro that can do it properly and quickly.

I'm not aware of any shops in the area that are willing to take this on....unless you're willing to pay $$$$$.

There are several versions of instructions available online. If the glass hasn't fully separated from the frame, you may be able to coax it back with some ratchet straps. But then you need to recoat the interior with the appropriate 3M adhesive paint. There's dimples at the top of the glass that can be used as indictors to gauge progress. I believe OEM from factory, the dimples where pretty much against the frame. There's about 1/2 inch or so of glass beyond the dimples. Also, avoid new strut shocks, whose pressure contributes to the glass separation, especially once the OEM paint underneath disintegrates.

It is pretty separated and the process looks a bit tedious. Ivan from IMA pointed me to a glass shop, That Glass Place. I am going to be giving them a call.

Let us know what you find out -- mine is pretty bad, also. I have a spare, but am curious about the feasibility of repairing mine.

I spoke with the owner of That Glass Place. He knows of the glass and situation we are facing , and he nicely apologized and said it was not a project he wanted to take on. I cannot really blame him.

I am in the same boat with you all. Would love to find someone I can pay to fix this problem. Luckily my car sits in a garage or it would be full of water by now. Let us know if you find someone willing to tackle it!
