rusted new wheel studs
I installed new wheel studs on my CS, washed the car and one week later I noticed both the studs and nuts are rusted I don't want to paint them nor spray with a lubricant as this might effect torque specs. I'm waiting to hear back from the supplier. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks.

Sure all the time. I paint the wheel nuts once a year, and the studs when needed. Best to paint nuts on a separate stud/bolt so no build up on threads. Will also lessen effect on painted stud threads.

Looks like you need to replace them with the proper length so they don't stick out so far and the eyesore rust will not be an issue...
Otherwise look into something that has some anti-corrosion zinc plating on both the studs and the nuts like these http://www.rennline.com/Competition-...waAuW4EALw_wcB.

When I had mine in the shop a few weeks ago they recommended aerosol (spray) graphite after cleaning them. the said it would turn them black and keep them from rusting. Haven't tried yet, but trust them.

It is just flash surface rust. Next time you have the wheels off wipe the studs and nuts down with some water displacement type light lube. "Dry" bike chain lube is real good. Don't spray directly, spray or wet a rag and wipe them down.
Graphite has 0 ability to resist water and prevent rust. it is slippery sheets of carbon, messy but just the ticket for some things. might not be my first reach for studs.

Fuch it -- it's a track car.

Anti-sieze can be helpful in slowing rust but there are differing opinions on its use on wheel studs.

My Rennline comp studs develop surface rust. Just clean them up whenever you pull the wheels. I also use graphite lube when reinstalling, but I also don't expect them to prevent the rust.
