I'm a fan of the auto blip. I drove JD's 991 a few times and really like the option of having it do the work (on track or street) or doing it myself. So, I view it as a great option to have on a manual.

If you trow the car in a gear that needs 14,000 rpm auto anything ain't going to help

Although, maybe it can dial up new car sales for you

Nope, it can't do that. For that you need PDK.

A regrettable thing about the auto blip is that the user does not have full control whether to engage it or not. In the ‘16 Spyder, Sport+ mode provided auto blip, whereas normal mode and Sport mode did not. I am not sure how the auto blip works in earlier cars than this, but don’t expect there to be a button that lets you decide when to turn it on/off. The new 991.2 Carreras have auto blip set to on in both Sport and Sport +. There is no user selection or deselection. The only way I can drive my Carrera using traditional heel and toe throttle blipping is in normal mode, which is fine, but I would rather be allowed to decide when I want to use it and not be limited to one driving mode.

I’m sure the auto blip would make things simpler on track, but simpler still would be just to Order a PDK and call it a day.. I want my #$@& manual transmission to work the way God intended!

Disabling Traction Control / PSM also disables auto-blip. At least that's how it works on the 991.1.

Now that you mention it, I think it’s the same on 991.2. Haven’t actually tried to use the PSM off option to find out, but will try soon.

Want annoying? Drive the latest gen mustangs that auto-blips upshifts and can't be disabled. (yes, I wrote that correctly.)

At least it doesn't play vanilla ice every time it blips.

Pretty sure that is the only mode the manual Carreras had in '86...
