Default Mechanic suggestion for 87' 928 s4

Just picked up a 1987 928 S4. Previous owner noted engine work needed and decided not to pursue. Who would you recommend to do the engine work? A friend noted 928 Motorsport in Wisconsin, but wondered about anyone in our area.

If you just bought a 928, you really want to get involved in the 928 forum on Rennlist. The best 928 person in the mid-atlantic is in Philadelphia if you are up to the logistics of getting the car to him. I can get you contact info if you like.

Hope you got a great deal on the 928, because I've been told engine work (or any work at all) on a 928 can be pricey. There are groups of owners who get together to work on their cars and help one another out, but I'm not sure that extends to engine work.

What kind of engine work? Routine belts/water pump etc or engine disassembly?
Dirk

Likely, rod bearings, but may be other items to address. Previous owner, just replaced belts, water pump and a bunch of other items($14k worth), but the issue popped up after he got it back. It was purchased at a very good price, as the PO was done putting anymore into it, so comfortable to have the engine thoroughly gone over. Dirk, Kerry doesn't have the tools to do the bearings or he'd do it.
Going to give Charlie a call tomorrow.
