Did you put storage underneath it? Would be a great place to keep engine stand, hoist, other large stuff you only need occasionally.

Good update, framing is a cool stage to see. Before you know it you'll be under roof working on the details.

Unfortunately no. Just storing 20 cubic yards of gravel...

I just finished a 28x28 detached garage and used the spray foam insulation for my build. I used closed cell for the roof and open cell for the walls. r-50 for the roof and r-38 on the walls. It was about a third more expensive than fiberglass. But it has worked well at keeping my unheated garage warm during the winter. You should also consider a good insulated garage door. I used a r-21 door by clopay. Attached are a few pictures before I finished the project. Pm me if you have any questions or would like to see any additional pictures. I don't want to hijack your thread with my garage build stuff.

I need to probably use spray foam for my attic roof. How thick are your rafters for get r50? Was it a DIY or did you contract that out?

The rafters are 2x12 and I contracted out. The company was in and out in a day. A few other item that are different from a normal build is I did a 14ft ceiling and a high lift garage door. This allows me to park my truck on the top or bottom of the lift without issue.

David I'm still in the house off little river and braddock. Swing by anytime for a cold one

Latest Update:

Originally, I was building a garage with a 2nd floor addition. Half way through the second floor, decided to stick build the attic instead of engineered truss. So, as a result, we ended up doing an attic addition also. Kinda of delayed things a little getting the details worked out. But for another 300 sq ft, it was worth the wait.

Views from this level are breath taking.... Blue Ridge on one side and woods (when the weather gets warmer) on the other.

Nicely done on the vertical addition. That top floor would be a cool den for scotch and cigars.

Increases size of house by 40%. Calls is "garage addition."

That looks amazingly nice!
