Default Weigh stations?

Anyone know where I could get my truck and trailer weighed? I'm guessing at the weight from the contents, but would like a real measure.

The Loudoun county landfill has scales where each vehicle is weighed coming and going, the difference being used to determine the dumping fee. The precision looks like +/- 1/100 ton; don't know how accurate the values are though.

VaSteve can't take his trailer to the dump. They would think he was smuggling the contents out.

When's your next event at VIR? I used the scales next to the Bojangles (BP, I believe).

Fairfax county has scales at the Lorton and Fairfax facilities. Used for same purpose. I can get them weighed at the base too. Scale used for official shipping so likely pretty accurate. I've had my rig weighed all together, then unloaded car and did it. Best to fill tank just before so no guessing on how much fuel was in tank.

CAT Scales at truck stops. If going to VIR via 95/85, one of the more convenient is at the Davis truck stop in Rawlings, exit 39. You can pay for a "weigh" ($11) and multiple "reweighs" ($2 each). There are three pads so that you can vary which axles are being weighed, and there is enough room to go to the side and get one trailer tire of a side on separate pads; handy when taking enough variations to determine tongue weight and how much weight is on each trailer tire (important when close to the weight rating of the axles and/or tires).
