Default New vir date!

We have been informed by Virginia International Raceway, that our long-standing Labor Day weekend date with them has been preempted by a racing series. VIR only offered us the weekend of 15-17 April 2022, or to lose the date for 2022 (and beyond) altogether.

However, this weekend for 2022 is Easter and Passover weekend. We are giving our HPDE drivers an early heads-up so they can make arrange their calendars to attend.

The consolation is that the 2023 date will NOT fall on Easter or Passover.

The remaining HPDE calendar is currently being finalized, and will be announced in January, with registration open shortly thereafter.

SEE YOU AT VIR!

I hope enough people attend that we can do a 2023 DE, but I won't be there Easter/Passover weekend this year...

Is this close to the date of the Zone 2 DE at VIR?

It was changed to July. The new club race date took the DE date. 03/25 to 03/27.

Zone 2 DE was in March and ^^^^ Scot said now Zone 2 Club Race with maybe an advanced DE. The Easter April event is new to Potomac as we got pushed out of the end of August beginning September.

March 25-27 is the Zone 2 Club Race with Advanced DE. The plan is to host a three day DE taking the place of one of the old race groups on Saturday and Sunday and then using the three hours of track time after the last enduro race on Sunday. We will also offer a Sunday only (for those three hours) because we get folks that live nearby or racers that just want to get that extra track time.

The full Zone 2 HPDE will be in mid June. A spectator event took our old Club Race date at VIR so they gave us a date that was only one week before Watkins Glen Zone 1 Club Race. That date was bad for both Club races so now it will be in March--plus we have been hearing the complaints about the heat and summer vacations, etc., so now the racers (and advanced DE drivers) can now try March.

PCA FSR has its normal two HPDEs--one at the very end of April and the other in Mid October.

BTW--we may still have some volunteer openings for the Club Race (scrutineers assistant/Tech Inspector) . We are also seeking sponsors--more info to follow on options.

Remember, VIR will always take a spectator and/or pro events over our PCA events because PCA national rules do not allow spectators so that is lost revenue for the track. This is why the SCCA National Runoffs have taken the Potomac DE slot for the next two years. These SCCA Runoff events bring in a ton of money for the track--our DE and Club Race events--not very much.
