Default What Vicegrip does to rust......

---Backstory----

I've had my current 911sc for about 10 years now, and it’s been quite a journey to say the least.

The car was being used as a parts car when I found it, it didn't have a distributor, the entire CIS was a leaking mess, the vacuum leak was so bad that the brake booster was inoperable. It had aftermarket racing seats that were installed, paint was entirely shot, all the weatherstripping was bad, brakes were shot...and on and on...

A cold winter day in DC about 8 years ago I went to the quick connect installed on the battery to shut off the power and I noticed a small bubble. With my finger I pushed on the bubble, and the bubble depressed, lifting my finger back up it had paint flakes and rust on it.

Poking around to see what I was looking at I started tapping around to listen to the good metal and the light hollow sound around the bubble. I took the handle of screwdriver and tapped it against the bubble to see how bad it was and the handle went through the metal to the bumper shock mount! So..... I was looking at the fender...

WELL.... I took a couple of screwdrivers and got all of the dirt and rocks out of the way and shop vac'd the debris up. I put rust prevention products on the rust and there it was.

A couple of weeks passed and I started looking into getting the tub repaired when my father in law told me that he would fix the rust and take the car to NJ to get it painted and fixed. I didn't think much about it because he restored hot rods and did tons of cars and trucks in the short time the I knew him before he passed. Well he took it to a friend, got it painted, and filled the rust damage with expanding foam, then took bondo and smoothed it out, then painted it.

When I got the car back from NJ I noticed what he did, but what could I say? SO I didn't say anything, my wife told me he was trying to save me money, and its the extended family thing. I was pissed but what could I do?

At this time I found an engine builder who was going to do the engine as I got the car back so the rust was on the back burner once again.

Remembering that I reached out a couple of years ago on the board to ask for help, Vicegrip reached out and told me he was building a garage in the side of a mountain to get back to him in the spring of the following year.

----Current----

Life got in the way but I finally reached out to Vicegrip and the rust work has finally started! And let me say this, I am so excited to see the work he's doing that my wife is starting to tell me to shut the eff up about it....seriously...I talk about it like a 16 year old girl talks boy bands I'm sure, but idk IM EXCITED!!!!!

Oh, and I gotta say this about Vices set up as well, thats the nicest garage / workshop with the best view I have ever seen....honestly....unbelievable

So............

There is still a ton of stuff to do, and yes I know that it never ends but I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

There has been numerous people that have helped me along this journey of getting it back to a "driver" and I really appreciate your help, and would just like to say thanks to Vicegrip, onboost, 86911TLCAB, Trak Ratt, Patrick3000, AND... Charlie Murphy
