FWIW, I think putting a throttle stop in is a really bad idea. If you're concerned about your kid's driving, don't give him a freakin' Porsche.

Agree! Just get someone to lower the red line 500rpm or so.

Hey guys, remember when your PCA Instructor said your gas pedal can be your friend?? Don't restrict it, get him a clunker VOLVO if worried about his safety

If I had a Boxster S as a 16-yr-old, I wouldn't be here now. Waaaay, waaaay too much car for me at that age.

Sell the Boxster, and use some of the cash to buy a Miata, and put Porsche badges on it. He won't figure it out till he's older.

Boy did this thread take a left turn off track.

That said, if I'm 17 and my dad's offering me a 14 year old Boxster, I certainly am not saying "no thanks". I hope he enjoys it.. and maybe comes out to PCA events asap!

This is excellent advice, we picked up an S60 for around 4K. It belonged to an old lady.

Young James gets his permit in early 2021. He can learn in the Volvo then hop into the 44 for HPDE.

Because the Miata is so much safer on the the highway? When I drove it on the highway it felt less a car, more a rolling speed bump!

A little fear is healthy, and might keep him concentrating on the world around him instead of texting or similar distractions.

True. I do like my fear wrapped in a big SUV though

So... SUV with a manual transmission is the answer.
