Started to install the intake system. Compared to the 3.6 Motronic, this is quite complicated stuff.

Most of the parts are just cleaned. Installed new O-rings. Here are some pictures of the assembling process.

The mounting plate for the linkage was bead blasted and powder coated, the linkage parts were zinc plated.

Here is a before picture:

Happy Monday.

Got more stuff done.

Got the oil tank back in, and lines connected.

Calipers are ready for assembly.

Got them installed on front

And the back. Just need to install the new pads.

Installed a new sound pad.

I also removed the electrical panel at the left side, so I could get it all cleaned up.

Last few bits and pieces powder coated.

Here the sump plate installed with new gaskets, ALU rings and lock nuts.

Also the bracket for the fuel filter and accumulator is back in.

Cheers
Engelbert

Nice work! Still hard to believe they were using the old style fuses in 1982.

They were still using those fuses at least in 1986, and I believe in 1989!

1) I'm glad it's just a "suspension refresh" because it looks like a fully remanufactured car to me!
2) That's an unusual-looking airbus for a 3.0. I didn't go back and read the entire thread but what engine is that?

I'll "ditto" the comments on amazing, inspiring work, and also Merry Christmas.

It's a stock 3.0L SC engine, standard CIS intake box. No Airbus, it won't fly, LOL.

Cheers

Looks like it's time for an update.

The car is basically finished, well, it's never finish.

I made a custom exhaust. I used a 2.5" Dynomax elcheapo muffler, and some bent tubing.

The engine compartment looks complete again.

Repaired and re painted the torsion bar covers. I had to weld on a new stud for both sides.

Repainted the rocker molding.

I re-plated the hardware. Some of the plastic spacers were cracked, so I 3D printed new ones.

The rear shelf had some cracks in the vinyl, so I took it out for repair.

I removed the old tired speaker. Who needs them stinky speaker back there.

I removed all the old foam, and installed new one.

Here with the new vinyl installed.

I took it out for a spin. Just waiting for a nice day to take it out for a longer drive.

Here is a little clip of the exhaust sound.

Cheers
