Starter replacement, now an electrical issue
I have a 2006 911 cab (997) and have had an intermittent starter problem when you turn the ignition you would hear a click, but the engine would not engage. At a local repair shop they first replaced the clutch safety switch. Failing this, they replaced the wiring harness noting twice as much resistance as a factory new cable. Failing this, they put in a rebuilt starter 8 months ago. This worked, but every so often I would still get a click without the engine starting. Last week when I turned the ignition the dash lights began to flicker the driver window went down at increments spontaneously and the spoiler was deployed, but no response to start the engine. The next day the battery was essentially dead. I keep the car on a trickle charger, The battery was replaced in 2011. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Battery first, charge and load test. But at that age, its time. When known good battery test load starting and for ignition switch.

I had a recent issue which was intermittent etc...turned out the battery connectors were not providing good connectivity between the battery and the car wiring....replaced and haven't had an issue since...i would definitely change the battery...8 years seems a bit old, even if it is taking a charge. Then as stated above i would start looking at the ignition switch...
