and even if you do disable the light itself, you may still have a fault in the ECU since there is no airbag there -- which will be revealed in the OBDI scan -- and you'll fail inspection anyway since you are in a modern car and (for good reason) there's no good way to game the OBDI scan

as far as i know, the safety inspection only involves a visual inspection, and a dashboard light check

if the seat belts are there, and the seat belt alarm sounds, pass

if the airbag lights come on, then go off, pass

same for other dash lights

if the headlights work properly, pass

if the tail lights / turn signals work properly, pass

if the mirrors work, pass

if tires are good, pass

if glass is intact, pass

if nothing is about to fall off the car, pass

frustrating that cars without side airbags are passed, and cars without any airbags are passed

changing out the seats on a yearly basis is a pain i would rather avoid

based on our efforts with the piwis...

i suspect there is a chip in each seat

the airbag fault checks cannot be changed/saved unless the oem seats are in the car

after using the piwis to bypass these airbag fault checks, the seats can be removed, and there will be no issue

we were able to get the yellow warning light for passenger seat airbag to go off and stay off, but that was about it

thanks KONG!

Take the electric guts from the stock seats, reconnect them to the car, bundle them up and zip tie them down to something.

Or get a real Porsche. You know from back when they were metal and hot oil and not made from water cooled little black boxes.

i know many p-car people love the old cars

i love that they do, and love that someone keeps them sorted out, running well, and showing up to be seen and appreciated by me

i will sometimes follow an old p-car around the track, and admire the skill of the driver

when i follow a 914 around a curve and see a front wheel lifted off the road, its cool

but that is where it ends for me

pdk, pasm, psm, ptv, more power, i welcome it all

as i sit here writing this my left foot is on an ice pack, as i seem to have developed a constant foot pain issue after hip replacement

getting old sucks

every time i get into heavy traffic with my '06 boxster, constantly changing gears, i think, maybe a 718 boxster with pdk would an ok replacement

How about making a harness extension - so you can just have the seat NEAR the car, plug it it, reset and then unplug?
