Default Boxster Caliper removal???

How do I remove the calipers from a 2001 Boxster S? The brake line going into the caliper seems to be the palce but the bolt does not want to turn and I do not want to force it. I have bled all the lines.

There are 2 large, long allen head bolts on the back of the caliper, that connect it to the hub bracket.

Here's a website with some info/pics: http://www.bombaydigital.com/boxster...change_rotors/

Also, there's a know corrosion issue, that may cause some bolt binding if the bolts were reused during a prior rotor change. OEM bolts come pre-coated with an anti-sieze. Recommended to replace bolts if caliper is removed. But if reused, should put some good quality anti-sieze compound on the threads. If they don't want to budge, you may try soaking with anti-corrosion spray for a while. Otherwise, heating with a torch may be needed.

Gotcha! AFAIK, the brakeline attaches directly into the caliper, as opposed to a banjo fitting. An open-end wrench may not be able to get sufficient bite, without trying to round the corners. A flare nut wrench allows you to slide over the brake line, and grab more than 2 sides.

Alternative, cut the brake tubing and use a socket or box wrench. (6-point would be more effective than 12 point).

Vise grips can work well, too (assuming you gon't care about chewing up the nut on the brake line a little).

Hope your part-out is going well!

If the flare nut wrench is bending open and rounding off the nut clamp it tight with some vice grips. A little heat on the cailper helps too.

IF car is going to crusher just cut it and be done. Once off deal with it if needed.

Do you have a buyer for them? If not I'm interested

Good point. I will get out my saw and use a closed end wrench. Thanks.
