I started with the transmission. It came out of a 78 911SC, and I had it sitting for the last 8 years or so.
First I cleaned it up a bit from outside. This was good enough to start with disassembling. Here are some pictures as it comes apart. I clean up the pieces as I go. Got the casing cleaned up And here the 2 shafts out. R/P looks good. Got it all disassembled for inspection. Next: check all parts for wear and make the list. I decided to replace all bearings, and I know for sure the first gear synchro ring must be bad. More to come. Cheers Engelbert

I thought the same thing until Hoophead (thanks, buddy) walked me through a rebuild. The second time a year later I understood better but it's really very straightforward, and makes driving a manual more fun now that I realize what is happening.

Here is a little update.
While waiting for the transmission parts, I worked on the seats. I found a nice set of 964 8-way power seats. The only thing was some wear on the driver seat. The pictures below show the leather already sanded and prepped, and ready for repair and dye. After repair with dura flex. I brushed the seat 2 times. Here is it after applying 2 coated of the dye by brush. I used some blocks to get the dye also between the hidden areas. Here is the finished product after spraying the last coat. This is the driver seat where I repaired the cracks. Will find out how it holds up. Cheers Engelbert

Nice work. Do you have a dye you recommend? I need to dye some rear side panels black.

I used Leatherique for the leather. I sent them a piece of the vinyl I used for the interior parts I recovered, and the color came out nice. It's not so good for vinyl or plastic pieces. I used SEM product for the hinge covers. Cheers Engelbert

Beautiful job on the seat!
Is DuraFlex something that can be used on dash cracks?
