The little Fords are legendary for their solid build and hard working nature. They punch above their weight. I found a one owner 1715 that was in top condition.

The pix of the 914 give me pause. Evidence of it being under a tarp while on bare soil = greenhouse. They would rust when parked in the garage much less on dirt under a tarp. If a real 6 it is likely worth the effort of someone that can do their own work for the labor intensive parts. If a 4 or might have some good parts.

It never hurts to drag them into the sunlight and at least look! Looking forward to updates on this one.

fwiw, the '72 6's used the 914/4 steering column (and hence, a right placement of the key on the column). For 1972, they were essentially a "special order"

base 914/6 wheels were 5 bolt steel wheels.. same as the base 911T wheel. 5.5x15. Ours came that way, but my dad had them swapped out for 5.5x14 Fuchs.

That said, its likely a 4 based on the current wheels and condition.

914/4 VIN starts with 47 (ie, 1970 would start 470xxxxx, 1973 would start 473xxxxx
914/6 VIN starts with 914.. the 4th number would be year.. so 9140xxxxxx is 1970, 9141xxxxx is 1971 etc.

VIN can be found along the A pillar under the windshield on the drivers side, or on the B pillar in the door jam on a tag on the drivers side (as well as under the front trunk)

Well, walked by the car this morning and took a picture of the RR wheel. It has a two lug pattern! And maybe a little icing on the fender. I’ll keep an eye out for the next potential find, there’s bound to be one in this little town.

Thanks for all the advice!

That poor car. I would imagine that the floors and longitudinals are in really bad shape.
