Default 2002 996 C4S with rebuilt 3.8 engine, RWD conversion

2002 C4S that had a "D chunk" failure and rebuilt by TuneRS in Florida with LN cylinder and JE pistons. See for sale ad for PO, https://rennlist.com/forums/vehicle-...onversion.html . LN Triple row ceramic IMS bearing was installed at the same time.

It now has 113883 miles. I am the 3rd owner and have most records. I keep a Google spreadsheet of works done on the car, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing .

March 2018 is when I bought the car and drove up from Florida, and overhauled suspension with Ohlins coilover at TPC. New brakes, rear axle, GT3 LCA, Tarret GT3-style sway bars and end links were also added at the same time. It rides and turns as well as 997 GT3, it actually turns flatter the way Tom had it set up.

It was primarily my track car and daily but with 2 other cars, mileage added isn't much. Since it was going to be my daily, I installed Kenwood Apple CarPlay AV receiver with rear view camera and JBL 329 and GTO 529 speakers (dash, rear sides, and sub).

The infamous shooting foams from vent was partially dealt with. While installing the headunit, I was able to get to the front flap which I cleaned up and put aluminum duct tapes on, but the rear flap was impossible to get to, so there is still small pieces coming out occasionally, but far less than it used to. Overall, air flows seems to work fine and AC feels stronger than my 997.

I have photos uploaded on Dropbox, https://www.dropbox.com/sc/n06jyekn8...RqMW8joppf258a

Cosmetically, it is a 10 footer, there are scratches here and there, and the front bumper cover is not perfectly aligned (after I removed it for cleaning debris from AC condenser and radiators).

As the PO's ad states, he spun it and had front-end damage. He also had rocker panels, lower pieces on the front and rear bumper covers painted. There are tiny pieces chipping off in places on the rocker panels. I replaced the front bumper cover lower piece with a new stock unit when I bought the car.

I do have the front drive shaft. The PO did mention that he had to fix front diff leak before taking it out completely.

The car, unfortunately, suffered a terminal engine failure. I am considering selling it as a rolling chassis, and have an offer from DC Auto for $5k with them picking up the car.

Thank you.

So sorry to hear that, what caused the engine failure on the rebuilt engine?

Hard to say, it is at Chapman Auto and he thinks spun bearing but without opening it up, just an educated guess based on misfire codes and others, as well as the noise it makes when cranking.
