I have been busy compiling the list of the parts I need to make this swap. Going to get a bunch of stuff from Patrick Motorsports. James Patrick is a great guy, has a 914-6 of his own with a 3.6 in it and his shop does these swaps on a daily basis. Great source of information and assistance.

The parts are piling up; just placed a second Patrick Motorsports order as well as a Porsche parts order yesterday. Can't wait to get started on this transplant.

Entered my car into the Mels Drive Inn annual Hot Rod show on August 26th in Auburn. Last year was a great turnout and lots of food and vendors. Looking forward to it.

Had a great time at Mels; I got the award for "Sexy Sport". Probably 200 cars there, 95% Hot Rods. I saw a '35 Ford pick-up that I really loved, it got Best of Show. Also saw a '67 Nova with a small block 427 that I wanted to take home. Had a lot of people eye-balling my car and wanting to talk about it. Had a fun day. Mels did a terrific job and even had their servers taking orders and delivering them to the parking lots for people.

Well I have amassed what I believe is 99% of everything we will need to make the 3.2 to 3.6 swap in about another month. I am figuring 3 months to get it done... good to have a plan at least .

Oh, I apparently forgot to post the revised front air intake for the new oil cooler that will go in with the 3.6. Going to add 2 Spalls fans and a digital thermostat so we can adjust as needed to maintain good operating temperature. In addition to this enlarged valance and bumper opening, we will also open up the front panel behind the bumper and weld in a fabricated oil cooler induction and mount to chanel air directly to the cooler and also maintain the integrity of the front panel. Then we will open up the front trunk bottom sufficiently to allow the hot air venting.

On my 914, I took a grinder and opened this area completely for my front mounted oil cooler. You have too much money invested in this to yours, but it really keeps the operating temps down.

Thanks, we plan to open the nose up and weld in a transition piece that will direct air right to the oil cooler and be the mount for the oil cooler. Then with the 2 Spal fans sucking that hot air out the engine will remain as cool as we want.

Went to Rennsport Reunion 7 yesterday. Had a great time, the weather was just right. I have no idea how many great cars were there, thousands. It was overwhelming to say the least. Vendors a-plenty too. Of course Eric Shea from PMB was there as well as OOO Magazine, Dansk, CarBone, to name a couple. Suffice it to say, if they sell Porsche related products, they were there.

I had to laugh when I opened the box of new lifters for the 3.6. They are so cute! They look like they are from a small model engine. I am used to Chevy lifters, so...

I decided since this motor has not run since '97, and the lifters are pretty important, and actually reasonably priced at about $28 per, that I might as well replace them with the engine on the stand.

I also received a new set of 914-6 engine tins from my favorite fabricator so I can use those to cut up along with the stock 993 3.6 tins to piece together and make a nice set for the 3.6 going into my car. I want to keep my stock 914-6 engine tins untouched.

At this point we have a nice plan for the whole engine replacement/upgrade. I hope we will get started the first week of November.
