This thread is "almost" grounds to start a related discussion along the lines of

If you see a mechanical breakdown as good news, and an opportunity...

You maybe a Dorki if:

You don’t recognize the broken down Porsche on the beltway and think of it only as “possible spare parts”

Your wife doesn’t recognize the broken down Porsche on the beltway and tells you about the “possible spare parts”

Every time your kid calls from Michigan he asks if you’ve gotten any new Porsches since last you’ve talked.

The local independent Porsche shops send you X-mass cards

People are always stopping by trying to give you their old Porsches

The county zoning inspectors have you on their speed dial

Gratuitous uprgades? Moi? Ha! My 993 absolutely needed Big Reds and a C2S grille. My SC needed chrome H4's too. The red trim rings weren't shiny enough. It was a safety issue. I could go on.

You maybe a Dorki if:

Driving your bosses C6 doesn't light your fire like driving the '81 Targa.

RL has it right. My boss doesn't get it.

You might be a Dorki if the guy next to you in the paddock pulls in with a hole in the motor case you can stick your hand through and you say "We better get on this now or you might miss the next run"

You might be a Dorki if: You have an extra $500 and you'd rather put it toward upgraded suspension than track time.

You might be a Dorki if: on your 5th wedding anniversary you call your wife from the track between run sessions to wish her a happy anniversary.

You might be a Dorki if: Your friends call you before calling a Parts store or dealership to see if you have an obscure Porsche part.

You might be a Dorki if: the first item on your "to buy" list for this weekend's wrenching is "case of beer"

You might be a Dorki if: you typically find at least 2-3 other Dorkis standing around, watching you wrench, and drinking said beer.

You might be a Dorki if: you've ever spent $6,000 to make a $11,000 car worth $11,500.

You might be a Dorki if: you refuse to add up the receipt total in that overstuffed folder labeled "Porsche receipts".

You might be a Dorki if: you've ever pissed your neighbors off for using air tools and revving an engine at 3:30 in the morning, because that's when you finished working on it (after starting at 10:00 a.m.)

Was at a part store and a guy asked me what year my Targa was. Exchanged some pleasanties about our car's and asked him if he was a Dorki. He reply was do I liked the present position of my teeth. Maybe we ought to look for a secret handshake to Identify ourselves.
