Since I want to have a working heat system in this car, I started on the components and making mounting brackets for the blower fan in the engine bay.

I had a good Carrera blower fan in my parts stash and it will be used for that.

It will be mounted a bit different as it was in the 3.2 Carrera. I made a custom bracket for that. At this time I leave the option open if I just use fresh air or also connect a hose from the engine cooling air to the blower.

Here is the fan before disassembling and inspection.

The fan worked perfect and was also in good condition, just needed some cleaning and refinishing. Here are some pictures.

Powder coated the muffler support and the fan mounting hardware.

I made a adapter where the hose will connect to the blower with the 3D printer.

Also made a new wiring harness for the blower. It will be connected to heater levers at the hand brake, so the blower will start when the lever is pulled.

To be continued
Engelbert

Finally I got the exhaust system all done.

All parts were blasted and coated with Cerakote.

For the heat cross over pipe I used one from a 3.2 and modified it a bit so it works with the 964 headers and the connection to the top.

Here some pictures.

And as bonus some sound.

Cheers
Engelbert

Englebert where did your source the GT3 elbows? I have BBE headers on my SC and contacted Brian from M&K. He says he could not fabricate the piece. It looks like your elbows would work except they would need the 3 bolt flange on both sides of the elbow.

I got the GT3 muffler from Tom Chan a while back. He had 2 of them for sale here on the forum. I made the elbows myself, bought some standard 2 and 3 bolt flanges. I had to install the headers and muffler first to fit it all.

Cheers

That turned out well. I never thought of using that muffler, sounds good and it fits!

Man I love this site! Engelbert, you are DA MAN!

Question: what are the 3-hole flat plates in the photo after coating the parts? They look like they are to close something off.

Check with Ben mb911 on the 914world board (he’s the creator of M&K that sold it to Brian, and a welding instructor). He can probably make whatever you need…unless you get someone local like rothaus or Kurt to do it.
