I had an 84 GTI in college. Black over red with a sunroof. Bought it in 1989 for $1800.
Loved that car. Discovered after I bought it that it had been wrecked at some point since it wouldn't align and wore the front tires out way quicker than it should have. Sold it to get an 86 CRX Si. I liked the GTI better. Should have kept it.
