oh c'mon the alternator is a 45 minute job. Lots of cussing and some blood but hey, it is german. I believe the valeo is 70 amp, and was used on the mid years like my 74. The newer units should be internally regulated. +1 on buying a rebuilt. for reduced downtime.

Welcome to the nuthouse Greg!

*I'm a BMW fan / owner / DIY-er nut as well. '86 911s are easier DIY no "Bus" systems or mysterious control module (not many) black boxes to deal with.

WHOA!!! You know I've seen the twinkle in roundel's eye when he looks at me, but rest assured I'm not on that team. (Not that there's anything wrong with it...)

Speaking of behind, }{arlequin, I just watched some of your in car footage...whoops....

dweymer, thanks! I've cursed a few BMWs, so cursing a Porsche won't be too different. What's the most difficult step in replacing the Alternator?

THANKS! Greg

Ground strap to case behind the alternator and lack of slack in harness to back of alternator ... and the need for small hands.

Nolte, Good to see you finally douched yourself. Hurry up and get that alternator swapped out. I wanna try your car. Where are the pictures in your introduction? Also, what is your opinion of the rain?

Since the alternator job requires little hands, get Maddie to stick her hands down in there.

Welcome, making sure the Alternator is centered so fan doesn't hit.
