Default Auto Sportsytems Group (ASG)

Good Morning - I did a Forum search for ASG and could not find any recent recommendations for their services. I did see they are hosting the October Tech Inspection which is probably a good recommendation in itself.

Does anyone currently use them for service and can give a positive (or less than positive) recommendation? There were a number of positive comments several years ago and I am just following up on those as turnover and times change. PM is fine if you'd rather not post here.

Thank you in advance!

They are still around, and run by the same guys. Little (if anything) has changed over the years. They have a large, loyal customer base (including many who track/ race), and as with any shop there are also some people out there with 'stories' of things gone wrong.

It would help if yo indicated the car model and type of work you need done, as some shops have better histories with certain models/ types of work than others. For instance, Ray at ASG is known for his 914 expertise.

BlackTalon, thank you for your quick response. Two Porsche's, both 2015's, both S's, one a Macan the second a 911 Cabriolet. Nothing specific work wise, just a good, less expensive than a dealership shop for maintenance and spotting potential problems before they become real problems. I prefer a Porsche specific shop, especially for the 911.

For NoVa shops, here is a short list:

ASG (Merrifield)
Intersport (Tysons)
Autobahn (Fairfax)
IMA (Chantilly)
Chapman (Sterling)

Out of those, I would likely consider Autobahn and Chapman, as they have less track customers, etc. (i.e., their focus is more on street cars).

GT Peace in Chantilly may be a new option. We visited one of their shops this past weekend for Tech, and they seem to have a really nice set up and good people running the show.

Depending where you are, Convenience Car Care does good work with ties to Intersport. Bergman Autowerks also good. Both in Manassas.

Thank you all for the recommendations and comments. Less expensive of course is a relative term, nobody is more than the stealerships but some do come close!

I've had my 997 serviced at ASG and have had good experiences with them. They've been very straightforward, showed me replaced parts (and why they were replaced), and have generally been very easy to work with.

In terms of price - I haven't found them to be tremendously out-of-line with other shops, but perhaps that is just due to my limited experience.

I've recommended them to friends with 911s and they've been happy customers as well.
