Nice puzzle (seriously clever use of your pretty remarkable photo), just beware mr trademark infringement. I am sure if you ran it buy the legal folks at the knife company that they'd be happy to share the profits in a traditional trickle down manner.

There are two reasons I haven't sold any of these yet - first, I want to get the puzzle quality right. The first cut that's shown here is not as good as I want it to be, so I need to find another printer. Second, as soon as I sell one I'm not violating Victorinox's trademark. I need to talk to them first.

Both are in process...

IIRC you have an image that does not have the logo plaque in the center. Might be hard for them to fight someone taking a picture of a bunch of knives and selling a "Pocket knives Puzzle" but the logo plaque sort of kills that argument. I can take pictures of my car and sell them.

Forgiveness is less effort than permission.

Right, and that's plan b. The nice thing about the logo puzzle is that it gives the user a nice large easily solved area to start with. The other thing about getting permission is that many of the quality puzzle printers I've found have dimensions that are not quite the 1.5 aspect ratio of this shot, which means there are blank areas to fill. The most obvious way to do that is add words like "Swiss Army" and company name.

Funny thing is I actually have some contacts within Victorinox so this might be an easier conversation to have than one would think. Another side project that I started a couple years ago was a book on the history and evolution of the knives. First thing I did was contact Victorinox and they were more than happy to give me permission to use logos and trademarks pending approval of the source material (i.e. making sure it's not a hit piece on their products).

Did you ever get this made into a jigsaw puzzle? They are back in style.

I did indeed:

It's... difficult... to say the least. I had a few of them made and I think one is being passed around to a few Dorkis.

I will concede I prioritized aspect ratio of the puzzle over quality of the manufacturer, as I figured "how f**king hard can it be to make a puzzle?" Very, as it turns out.

The picture itself was shot on a full frame DSLR, so it's a 6x4 image. Most puzzles I found were 6x4.5, which at the size I printed the puzzle would have been about an inch of white on top and bottom. I did find a marketing company that did 6x4 images on a 1000 piece puzzle, but the quality of the cut is garbage.
