Anyone using Toyo RR tires?
Man, we used to talk about track stuff in here more....anyhow ...
My RA-1 are about used up time for some new shooz. I tracked the number of days I got on my tires and it was double digits. Not heat cycles, DAYS. They keep coming back for more punishment. But was looking and see that RR tires are between an RA-1 and a Hoosier. They are within a few bucks of RA-1s. I'm so cheap that I don't want to spend Hoosier money though wouldn't mind the performance (or much of the performance) Anyone here have experience with these? Performance, lifespan etc. Thanks.

Huge step down from Hoosiers, kook z214 or bfg's. Not even in the same league.
And to make it worse, they only last about 10 heat cycles before grip and predictability fall away. I had used several sets of them and they are now on my permanent "do not buy again" list. It is unfortunate that kook stopped making the z214s this year.

Official tire of Spec Boxster. Maybe Streak will chime in. Definitely more grip than the RA1 but not as many heat cycles for sure.

I have not used RR, but have listened to Hunt echo what was said above. I have stopped buying Hoosier because I have no need to get ready for the "big" race, and also with 2 of us driving, that is a new set every weekend which is more fun than I want to have. Also, the faster I spend money, the slower I get these days, so my goal is to slow the rate of descent. You driving the heck out of that S2. How about going to 18" wheels to get more tire under it? like 245/18 NT01 all the way around.

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Google "Trackdaytires" and see if Todd has any scrubs in your preferred sizes. $600 for a set of lightly used scrubs that will probably last you three events is a good value to me. Edit: I should have said "gtracingtires". The other site is the hoho vendor. My mistake.

Spec tire for NASA Spec3. You can get about a race season out of them, when rotated correctly / diligently.

I've never driven on anything but RR's so my experience is limited, but it sure seems to me that longevity is one of the strong points.

Interesting thread. It's also the spec tire for SpecE46 and I have different results.
I agree they're not nearly as fast as a Hoosier or BFG, but they do seem to last a long time. For example, this past weekend at PittRace I started the weekend with a set with 21 heat cycles and was only .7th off my best time fro last year. They're also a little weird when new especially at VIR. I find them to be nearly a full second slower when new over a set scrubs with ~10 heat cycles. As for lifespan, I won all 4 races this weekend vs racers w/ stickers. My tires that ended up with 27 heat cycles worked just fine and still have life in them. I turned my fastest lap on Sunday's morning race with 26 heat cycles. I'll probably run them during the practice session this weekend at Summit.
