if you don’t have something assembled wrong or the original bearing is shot and sloppy

Bleed is not a one and don’t thing. First bleed as normal using a vacuum bleeder if you have one.

Next step. Find a helper that you can convince to go under the car or one that can push the clutch pedal vigorously 20 times in rapid order.

Get under the car and all ready to bleed. Do this final step only after you have cleared the master and lines of air. Be sure to keep the fluid level topped off! The clutch draws fluid from well above where the brake master does.
Have the helper pump the clutch 15 times or so then stop while you bleed. If no vacuum bleeder have the helper slowly pump the clutch while you bleed off fluid. Close things up and check the pedal. Top of the fluid and repeat if needed.

The goal is to break up the trapped bubbles in the slave cyl. The slave cyl is poorly designed in this application and air traps in it. Vigorously agitating the fluid will entrain the air and allow it to be flushed out with the fluid.

Thanks,

I have a vacuum and a pressure bleeder. I used the pressure bleeder and it helped. Clutch still has a lot of play and goes all the way to the floor. Clutch works perfectly just very soft and does not feel right.

Will bleed some more and live with it for a while. Dred changing the slave if necessary (PITA getting it bolted up).

Hope not. Just got a new clutch and a bunch of upgrades. Shifts perfectly. G50 trans is the best part of that car.

Many Thanks to Ed.

He welded engine mount bar with perfect skill. It fit like a glove and all seems to be working smoothly.

Clutch is still soft feeling, maybe thats the way its supposed to feel. Works perfectly. Happy to be on the road again

That was a big project for me. Lots of while the engine is out stuff got done / replaced.

It was great to meet you, Chris, and terrific that you're back on the road!

There's enough metal in/on there that it'll probably even hold for a while

Soft is not the proper feel. Might be a good idea to bleed it fully when you have the desire.

I ordered an new clutch master cylinder. Its only $100 and should solve the issue. Bleeding the slave is a PITA (I dont have a lift) so if I am going to bleed it, might as well make sure it's fixed.

I suspect the master cylinder was going before this.

There are never any shortcuts with these cars. With the new Master Cylinder, it worked for about a day. Just installed a new slave and it feels right. Hopefully this chapter is closed as it was a lot more work than anticipated.

New clutch, disk and pressure plate
New Throw out bearing and spacers
New guide tube
New bronze fork upgrade kit
New fuel lines
New sound shield
New Master and slave
New trans fluid
New main seal (think it's leaking )
Bleed a quart of brake fluid through the system
New oil and filter

I am hopefully done for a while
