I was stopped right at the scene of your car's demise, glad you are OK.

My student last weekend has a blown engine in his 987.1 and was talking abouit replacing it with the 9A1 engine. Says he has the skills to do all the rewiring which is a big job. He might be interested in the engine.

It seems like a whole helluva lot of work to do if you're not in the business especially the advertising, selling, and shipping.

How bad is the front end damage, just body? subframe? Should I be looking on Copart for this soon?
copart?

this is all new to me

i have not been in anything more than minor fender benders before this

i don't have the salvage cost yet to figure out what to do

i tend to agree

i am too old, no time, limited engergy, and little skill

if i am willing to wait, maybe after i buy the salvage, someone can convert it to a race car for me????

the engine and pdk are perfect, and i was just beginning to make mods on the car after the cpo expired last year

i was thinking about moving on to a 911, but not sure i want to do that

You should seriously consider this (local 911 drovers need spare parts too)

Otto,
With your self description of skills, the best bet is to just let it go and get your check and move on. Parting out cars takes a lot of time and effort. HOWEVER, find out what the buy back is, and there is room for negotiation by the way, and think/research about what the running gear is worth so you have an idea. Then sell the whole heap to a GTB guys like Chuck/JD who can use the motor, trans, suspension stuff, etc. as spares on a race car. Play your cards right and you could make a couple bucks and the buyer can get a good deal on spare parts. Just my $0.02. Good luck and glad you two are ok.

Otto,
Glad you are ok.
Parting out a car is a big hassle. Unless someone is ready to write the check for carcass before you buy it back from insurance, just move on and focus on replacement.
