Rebalancing Tires after TPMS sensor replacement.
I have decided to fix the TPMS error (been like that for 5 years) on the XC90 by replacing the wheel sensors. Bought some cheap ebay ones. The replacements are little smaller. The top one in the pic is the new one. There is a 10gram difference between the 2. Is that enough a difference to affect the balance. Tires are 255x55R18.

yes. anytime the tire comes off the rim(even partially) should require a rebalance.

Actually, I only broke the bead on 1 side. So, the other side still held in place and should keep the tire from moving on the rim.

If the tires don't spin on the wheels you are not accelerating and braking hard enough.
Just sayin'...

It's an XC90. Do they even need to have their tires balanced?

Well, it depends….
How did you go about installing the devices? Break the bead down, reach in, swap out without clocking the tires? = no issue. (Not uncommon procedure) Or, remove the tire, install the device and reinstalled fire? Rebalance. More info needed to provide reasonable answer.

Since I don't have a tire machine like some of us here (um Vicegrip), I make own tire bead breaker using a 3 1/2 ton jack. Here is a video of it action.

In that case no rebalance needed. Easy to test too. Take it for a drive.
Another way to break a bead is deflate and remove the valve core, lay wheel on its side and, carefully, drive onto the tire with another car. Recommend a helper to watch and guide. (Wait, What?! Some people don't have their own tire changers and balancers? Clutched pearls and gasps)
