The news, according to the kid, is that we passed inspection. Hurray!

Hopefully that means they'll be back tomorrow morning, hard at work. If so, will post fresh update pics after I get home.

We will end up with about the same number of outlets as before, including one on each end of the island. I thought about getting some pop-up outlets in the island countertop, but decided that fixed ones on the ends of the island were 99% as effective and far cheaper. Same deal with moving the sink & dishwasher to the island vs. leaving them in their original places -- just not worth the extra $$$.

I think in MoCo, the inspectors can perform multiple types of inspections.

Day 12 update:

They installed the concrete underlayment today. Glued and screwed to the subfloor. So, next step is either finish the drywall or install tile, not sure yet. Also, not sure when they're coming next, may be a few days before the next update.

Day 15 update:

A team of two showed up today, and did drywall (yes, they labored on Labor Day). They patched and coated almost everything. They plan to come back tomorrow and finish the drywall. Then, they will paint either tomorrow afternoon or Wed., depending on how quickly the mud dries. Tile should go down after that. Cabinets are planned for early next week.

Also including a pic of the tile. It's genuine imported Italian tile, with a wood pattern. <shrug> Management likes it, and that's what really matters....

I have been accused of being a bit more picky than normal but I see 6 tiles and 3 repeated patterns. They are also very large tiles with a bold pattern. Might be worth the time to talk with the tile installer and have them carefully sort then pre-plan the layout. Mix the tiles and orientation so you don't see odd repeat patterns.

I've done a few tile jobs over the years... 1,000+
With artificial printed porcelain tile, always always always layout ALL the tile on the floor and show it to management before install. Oh, and take a picture of what management approved (you will need that later to remind management they approved it).

Tile printing has improved greatly in the last several years and it is not uncommon to have hundreds of patterns, thus the need to worry about the same pattern stacking up in one location is reduced - so you can check that. More important (IMO) is to check tile for printing imperfections that will stand out. (like a blotch or an unprinted spot)

I have been under a rock or something as I have never ever seen more than 8 or so patterns in a printed tile group.
