Default 718 boxster s or 981 boxster s

my intention is to go from two p cars to one for now

i am thinking of a boxster upgrade

are there any pca potomac hpde events that i cannot do with a boxster? any tracks that prohibit them?

i looked at two 2016 gt4's but i think i want to stick with pdk, so until the 2019/2020 gt4 is out with pdk, and a couple years after that, because i don't buy new, it will just need to wait

i also considered a couple used gt3's and 911 carrara t's with pdk, but the numbers and cost to run on track don't work for me at this time

so, a used 981 boxster s/gts with pdk, pasm, sport chrono would be ideal

but they are few, and there are many more h-4 turbo, 718 boxster s/gts out there

any reason why i should not by a 718?

the fact that they are plentiful should be an indicator, right?

keep in mind, this will become my daily driver or karen's in a few years time

thanks!

The main reason I can see for a 981 is proven platform. Not sure enough is known about 718.

The 718’s are fast, bloody fast! Did I mention how quick they are, lots to choose from.

GLWYS and enjoy

well, they certainly have torque if nothing else

that might be good considering the load it will be hauling around turns

the other thing is i see a lot of 718 boxsters with the x73 suspension, which would be a nice compared to pasm, but not sure

well you have to pass the broomstick test. your helmet has to be 2" below a stick between the top of the windscreen and whatever's the highest point behind you - hence, hoop extenders.

If Dr. K doesn't chime in with the virtues of a Miata, I may have to...

thanks for reminding me of this

there are no hoop extenders for the 981 or 718 boxsters that i know of, please link me to some if anyone knows of them

the hoops are as high as the top allows from what i understand

i contacted piper motorsport and ssi about fabricating a harness bar and installing my omp seats, while i have not gotten back whith them, they seemed certain they could do the work

as with my cayman, they will be installed as low as possible, bolted in, and that should be enough

I have a '14 BS and am 6" tall. The factory hoops that extend above the seats are about 3" above my helmet. I don't see why you would need to add any hoops/extenders. Unless, of course, you are considering adding a roll bar.
