OK, as we are working through this swap we have made a change in the oil cooling system. We are replacing the existing oil cooler with a larger double-pass oil cooler and adding 3 5.25" fans mounted directly behind the cooler to pull air through the cooler. Then we will make a new aluminum shroud, just like the one currently on the car, but bigger, to seal that cooler off.

Took a break and made a quick drive down to LA to see a car my brother wanted to buy. Trip went well and he bought the car. It's a '15 991.1 911 Turbo S Coupe. Full leather, CA car always, no accidents/paint work, clean CarFax, just had a major service and new rear tires. 36K mile car with PPF from new. He got a great price (I negotiated the deal ) and it is now stored in the seller's private hanger until we return on the 15th; we will fly down and drive her home. I am very happy for my brother; he deserves this beauty. 560 HP stock!

Flew down to LA Friday and my brother bought the '15 991 TTS Coupe. We hung out with the seller for the day; he is a great friend. Spent the night and hit the road at about 0515 hours on Saturday and were clear of LA by 0600 and headed home. Killed a whole lot of bugs (sadly) but made it home with no issues. Mt brother has tentatively named the car "Orca" since it is white with black trim. I have to admit it is a killer whale and I think that name is perfect.
Here he is taking care of the bugs.

OK, making progress on the new oil cooler and fan set-up. All we need now is the shroud cover to seal it all up. That should be completed this coming week. Then it is on to the 3.6.

Beautiful work, I am sure you have considered these with the cooling.
Do the fans run continuously? Do they actual block flow when moving? Do the louvres on exit allow enough exhaust air. No criticism just questions. Dirk

Hi Dirk- Thanks for looking. The fans will be on a digital thermostat that we can adjust as needed. They should allow air to flow through the cooler when not running. The floor louvers should allow the air to evacuate the sealed shroud. If it all does not go as planned, we have options we can introduce to increase air flow. We will all have to wait and see once the 3.6 is installed and we get to drive it.
Cheers, Michael

I was just wondering. My 914/6 (Original) but converted to now a scrappy race car by previous owner with a 3.4 never had a problem with high temp, even on the street with no fan (Street Rod tags) and not on the track. Front oil cooler had a fairly large exit below similar to yours with out the louvres. Your build and workmanship is amazing!
Dirk
