Have your tried your 987.2 wheels?

Is that 80% of 120%? JK!

Why did Porsche think it acceptable to enclose the caliper so pads can’t be swapped and use steel bolts threaded into aluminum? Studs ftw.

+1 on PFC 08. I got amazing durability and no fade and great feel until the pads were down to 2mm. But I brake only when waiting for VASteve to point.

Default 981S brakes

Sorry I didn't see this till now. I ran stock rotors the first season with my 981S with Pagid Yellows and the stopping power was fine. I did upgrade to Girodiscs and see the main benefit as longer life (fewer rotor swaps) and cooler brakes because they are slightly larger diameter and dissipate heat better. I swear the pads are lasting longer, but maybe I'm just braking less! Still running my first set of Girodiscs after quite a few events. I do recommend replacing the caliper bolts with studs - less risk of stripping the threads in the hub - an expensive mistake. Also, I found no need to replace the master cylinder. The 987s benefitted greatly from the GT3 master cylinder upgrade - much firmer pedal feel. But the 981S must have a 911 master cylinder - once I went to braided lines and the Giro's, the pedal feel is very firm and confidence inspiring. See ya at Pitt!

Cheers

i am leaning girodisc

i would also upgrade the brake lines, add a trw/gt3 master, and gt2 front brake ducts, along with wheel studs

and this is the big ask!

do any of my pca friends with a lift want to help make this conversion this saturday?

981 cayman s wrenching experience would be helpful

crazy i know

thanks ed

i don't know why i was thinking the brakes on a 981 were not much different than those on a 987, but the front brakes are definitely must improved

dirk did say i was over thinking it again

for now i am going to burn the stock rotors that are on the car

then we will see

so i have a gt3/trw master new in a box for sale

i also have a set of gt2 front brake ducts - do you think those are worth putting on?

so i am going with pagid yellow on front and pf08 bads rear for now

i will most likely replace rotor discs with sebro slotted

Always worth getting more air to brakes! Keep the MC, you know you will want it next month.
