Default Steering Wheel Restorations ?

Hi all!

I'm weighing restoring this wheel vs. buying a new one. I've used a guy in Florida before but he specializes in Porsche OEM wheels. This is a Dino Raid that hasn't been made for years. Might be easier and more cost effective to just buy one. However it will be a gift for the brother-in-law and in my opinion buying a wheel is like buying seats. It's a personal choice.

Do you guys know of a wheel restorer that you recommend?

I had my 09 Cayman wheel redone by Dallas Custom Steering Wheels.

http://www.dallassteeringwheel.com/

Very happy with the whole process. I had it back in three days.

I offer no opinion if you should redo your wheel.

Dirk, as always, you are a lot of help..."patina"? This is abusive neglect!

I drive the car a lot and do not like the wheel, but I'm not the owner. I wish there was a place close by were one could hold different wheels to get the feel. Like OG Racing.

I'll contact Dallas Steering Wheels. If the price is comparable to a new one its a done deal. Thanks!

My wheel, redone with single color leather, thick padding and palm swells was around $500, plus what I paid for the replacement wheel to send to them.

Worth every penny.

Dallas Customs does great work. I would have that wheel media blasted and have the black resprayed and then send it to D.C. for them to rewrap so it looks like new and you get another 20 years of enjoyment out of it.
