Default Summit Point North/South Vintage Race

The first ever vintage race I went to was a fall event at Summit Point back in the '90s. I was invited by a friend of mine who picked me up at home for the drive up.

Can't remember who sponsored it or what it was called, but remember the excitement of arriving at the track and then seeing all of the confederate flags (as well as Stars and Stripes) as we drove into the paddock. My buddy looked at me as I was trying to piece all of this together and then laughed. It was about racing, cars and good people. Had one of the best times of my life.

Went until they stopped that event... anyone remember what the event was called or who sponsored it?

How late in the fall? Could it have been the Turkey Bowl (Thanksgiving weekend?)

It was the Blue Grey classic. My dad entered a few times. Some of the drivers and crew would actually dress up like union or confederate soldiers at happy hour. Yes confederate flags were waving as were union ones. A very fun event. I may have some photos I can dig up.

I have an old glass for an event called the "Rebel Run" in the cabinet.
