Here another update:

Finished the door jamb area.

Cutting out the bad.

Making new pieces.

Weld it all in.

The driver side was actually OK.

So I took on the fenders, which had a big dent at the top behind the headlight bucket, as if something dropped on the car .

I got it out rough for now. Will do the finish later.

The left side fender had also some body filler, which I removed.

Assembled it all to make sure all the gaps are OK.

I had to push out the fender a bit, where I removed the body filler, which was used to buildup so it would match the door.

Next, I removed the doors, fenders and hood to strip the 3 layers of paint of.

This is ugly stuff, LOL.

Here after getting the last layer of with the scottch brite wheel.

Next strip all the rest and assemble.

Here it is.

Cheers
Engelbert

Made some progress on the Targa:

Started to clean, blast and powder coat some suspension parts and pieces.

Some pieces I zinc plated.

The Bumpers came in, so I started to fit those. The front bumpe was not bad at all, needed some minor corrections.

The rear bumper was very bad. I had to cut it in 3 pieces to make it work.

It was so bad, I had to cut additional slots to line it up. It looked like it was twisted.

After fiberglassing it back together, it finally looked as it should.

I test fitted the mirrors which will be used.

After all this fiber glass and sanding, I needed a break and went to assemble the suspension components.

New Turbo tie rods for the steering rack.

Next, I started with the Brake calipers.

Cleaned, Blasted. Here the rear before and after cleaning and blasting.

All ready for coating.

Here all Coated, and ready for assembly.

To be continued

Cheers
Engelbert

So I was working on the driver side door, and learned that the Coupe and Targa doors not completely the same.

The original door was rusted, so I have a replacement one. I noticed that the section where the window frame mounts are different front and back.

Here is the replacement door:

Here is the original door:

Here the other end of the replacement.

Here the other end of the original.

So I made 2 small pieces to weld in.

Now it's like it should be.

I'm glad I found this now, and not after all is painted.

Cheers
