Default ISO: 2.25" Coil Over Springs

Looking for a pair of 2.25" coil over springs. Don't care about the lbs rating as its a temporary thing. 9" length should suffice. I am getting back into working on the rsr project and need to set the ride height for body work purposes. I picked up a set of coil overs years ago to allow it to be moved. The springs that came on them are 2.5" so not even close to being the correct size to work with the shock perches. Figured someone might have a local pair collecting dust in the corner before I order a set from Summit. Thanks.

I have a pair of springs but where do you measure for 2.25?
They are 9" but the ID is 2".

John
This is the spring perch ID ... should be 2.25"ID for spring. The one I got when I bought this setup is sloppy 2.5"ID spring.

When I saw your post I was hoping you could use them. I hate to throw them away.

This is a guess:
Looking at the thickness of the springs, and considering that the part that will touch the perch is NOT the innermost edge but the center of the metal coil, is it possible 2" ID might fit just fine? What's the diameter of the damper it needs to fit around?

It's not impossible. Would require a test fit. I would have to measure the OD of the shock but eyeballing it based on the 2.5" spring would work. There is a lip on the upper perch with a raised lip, maybe 1/8" that is 2.25" to center the spring.

Honestly, grinding it away the spring to make it work would not be the end of the word. It would just scrap the spring at the end of the day. My goal here is to make reliable suspension adjustments for bodywork fitment/adjustments.

So the springs in questions were 2" and did not fit over the shock bodies. Thanks again John for meeting up with me today to test them.

If you just want to “set the ride height” why not just jack the car to the desired height and unloaded front suspension, then measure and cut some tube or pipe to size? Might even be able to use PVC?

I was thinking something similar only using metal conduit or black pipe to make a "non-bouncy spring". It will be about .2" too big in diameter but you could build up the spring perch with an O ring or some tape to keep it from sliding around. Doing a little math with the known weight of the car and spring rate you can figure out the compression of the spring and how long to cut the pieces to get the desired ride height so your collars will be close.
