OK - I am sure I will stur up a ton of comments with this, and I am a new member, so feel free to yell at me!

I asked where "Dorkiphus" Came from. Charlie gave the answer of how the page got its name, but no-one gave an answer why it was a good name? And a chatter soon started of who has the car that was the hardest to maintain?

I have joined a few weeks ago - and I think this is an amazing web page, and awesome to have right in the local area where I live. I love it!

But I have to admit, I was told about how great it was by a member, and did not get arround to going to it for a month - BECAUSE I thought "how good could this page be with such a silly name??"

Now I have it bookmarked and it does not really matter - BUT I would hate to think that the name slows people down from looking at the page or joining.

I vote we change the name of the page. If it is a Porsche Page, why not pick a name that has a least something to do with Porsche???

Don't mean to sound unwelcoming, but I don't think too many here are aching to have the board get a lot bigger. If anything, I think we should make the name even sillier, so as to discourage the unanointed.

I don't care whether the name changes or not, but I think Porschiphus is not bad . . . and it effectively combines the ideas of Porsche and Sisyphus.

Why do we need to market Dorkiphus? Are we selling something? FYI, alot of the early members joined as a result of word of mouth. The real meaning behind the name, desipte whatever fairy tale you have read here, comes from an old story passed down from generation to generation. Apparently it all began in some guy named Marc A.'s garage where a bunch of greasey Dorks would gather, but there was always some Phus'ing going on, whether it be who's car is faster, who has better mods, what tools to use, who's the hottest Porn star, what beer is the best......etc. Well eventually, all this phus'ing just couldn't get done in one Saturday at Marc's place, so a website was created where the DorkI's (read I-Dork) could meet up and continue the phus'ing and fighting . This continued for a while, until a series of unfortunate events led to a decrease in the discord, and now all is quiet in Dorkiland. Good night!

And for tomorrows bedtime story, we will discuss how to pronounce Porsche

Eli, I think you know what I'm talking about. Anyhoo, see my signature for further explanation. I can think of a list of Porsche-related BBS trolls who pollute other boards and we'd rather they not find this place.

Bert, I couldn't agree with you more. We should have a name that has a dirrect association with the Porsche name. We should take a page from a more established Porsche web board. Take for example, Pelican Parts. Oh,.....wait a minute.
