Default One Lap of America 2023

I will be running OLOA '23 in the new Supra. My co-driver from last year has decided not to run as of a conversation this morning. This leaves me with an empty seat, so if you're interested or know someone who might be, send them in my direction. I can share last year's expense spreadsheet if anyone wants a snapshot of expenses.

Bits and pieces of this year's route are leaking out, as Hallett slipped up and posted the OLOA day on their track schedule last week. I anticipate the official release of the route any day now.

Here's the schedule:
5/5/2023 - Registration/Sticker Day in S. Bend, IN
5/6/2023 - Wet Skidpad @ TireRack HQ in S. Bend
5/7/2023 -
5/8/2023 -
5/9/2023 -
5/10/2023 -
5/11/2023 - Hallett Motor Racing Circuit (Tulsa, OK)
5/12/2023 -
5/13/2023 - Dry Skidpad @ TireRack HQ (and awards ceremony)

Without analyzing your spread sheet from last year, what do you anticipate this will cost?

About $5K a person is my estimate based on last year. That covers entry fee, Hagerty track insurance, tires, brake pads, lodging, and food. The food is a rough estimate, as we didn't really track it last year. Co-driver and I bought meals/drinks for each other and tried to keep it even.

I'm not counting the money we spent to "field fix" the car when we wrecked at Hallett - shop gave us an unbelievable deal, but he was a racer and had a stack of OEM 981 Cayman parts that he replaced with upgraded parts for the race cars he supported.

Tom, thank you for the information it is very helpful. I do not believe that this is in the budget for 2023 but it is very tempting.

On a completely different note what is the story on your “Crapcan” 93 Mustang GT?

Steady progress. I'll update that when my brain is a little more fresh.

My co-driver, Clyde is coming over this morning for a test-pack of the car. We're going minimalist, so no spare tire/wheel, no external storage (roof box), just our luggage, a couple of tools, and that's all.

I'll be vlogging/blogging via Facebook on the MidEngineCrisis page like I did last year: https://www.facebook.com/midenginecrisis

Relaxing at the hotel in Mishawaka, IN where we start and end. Already ran into several familiar faces and had a massive burger for dinner. All is well. Tomorrow is registration, tech, and stickers.
