Greg,
I had the same question. In short, YES, run with the spare. The spare up front is an integral part of the front crumple zone, you need it for safety reasons. I don't think Tech will let you pass w/o a spare.

Charlie, that's funny - they looked under the hood!
Jim, the suspension is really stiff. 28mm and 22mm t-bars, 19mm sways in the front, 16mm in the rear, RSR dampers all around. It's also amazingly dialed-in. With the R-tires it sticks like glue. At the auto-x school the skidpad was 90% dry pavement. I was circling with the front inside tire in the air!
