BaT Aquired by Hearst Media ( R&T, Autoweek etc..)
I found it interesting in the press release that it states BaT "curates" classics and collector cars for auction.. and that it further states that its "knowledgeable community vets each vehicle, giving confidence to potential buyers." That's a stretch given the peanut gallery that is the comment section.
I will admit however that I am amazed at what shows-up on BaT and some of the prices these "knowledgeable" people are paying! https://www.autoweek.com/news/indust...ing-a-trailer/

Ugh. Imho, Hearst has homogenized C&D, R&T and Autoweek so much that they all disappoint me. I imagine BaT will go the same way.

Part of the reason I gave up on most of the car magazines was because all of them basically had the same stories, just written by different people.
I like Panorama, but pretty much the rest of the magazines aren't great. I only hope BaT keeps it's soul. Elric42 |

Maybe Doug DeMuro knew of this before recently creating his own car auction site.
I’m also amazed at the tons of cool cars or BaT. FWIW I like the oddball stuff on barnfinds, it’s like the old BaT.

I've also been impressed with BaT's compliment of cars up for auction. As for the commentors, completely agree. I was semi seriously following a couple of cars on there recently... also watching prices Cayman Rs were fetching, as I had one for sale. I think the commenters offer very little, but some of the questions at least result in more information about the car from the seller being posted. I get the sense that people who are actually bidding are privately messaging with the seller. That's what I would do if I were planning to bid.

I've both bought and sold cars on BaT and never once done PMs during an auction.
