Washing machines??? With that kind of money, wouldn't you just burn your clothes at the end of the day and put new ones on tomorrow?

He probably needed to save a little money. He had two flying Spitfires, a P51 Mustang, L39, F104, and a whole bunch of other flying WWII aircraft at one point. His collection was pretty well know among the flying community in the area.

The F104 is at Easton airport as a standing engineless attraction. Don't know about 2 flying Spits, definitely the one and flying P51.

Silly spending. My father got paid to fly all kinds of fighters and free fuel and ammo too! (The people shooting at him were not an added bonus I guess)

Unfortunately neither the RAF nor US Air force will now provide you with either and no ammo. Just glad that someone has the ill gotten gains to keep some of these museum pieces flying as opposed to just sitting.
