PCM reset XM Radio update error reboot issue
It has brought to my attention, that the PCM keeps rebooting on a number of vehicles at this moment due to an XM update.
Please perform a PCM handover (also known as a PCM hard reset): Press and hold the PCM>>Info button for approximately 10 seconds until the PCM reboots. Immediately select the following form the PCM CAR>>OPTION>>SET PCM System>>Reset PCM>>Vehicle Handover>>YES>>YES. Be aware that hard resetting the PCM will remove all personalized settings

Thanks - just did this to the wife's Cayenne. Been driving her crazy.
Had to figure out how to switch it from German to English afterwards...

Usually best to do it via beach invasion.

But doesn't that leave it in French or Italian in the long term?

Yes, but that is a good thing. It brings a tremendous improvement in the food.

Thanks for the posting, Gary. My PCM had just started the rebooting, and I was thinking I would have an expensive visit to the dealer after the holiday weekend. I had checked the owners manual and found nothing; with the help of some of the buzzwords in your posting I was able to find the handover instructions (page 18 in the 991 PCM manual).

Does it have this problem is Sirius/XM isn't active? I haven't had problems (yet) with my 997...

Probably not. My wife's Cayenne has the problem.(rebooted twice) however my Boxster without Sirius does not.

I was just finishing up a free three month subscription with SiriusXM when my PCM kept rebooting every few minutes. Found others with similar rebooting issues on RL although at the time no one knew it was the SiriusXM's fault. Reboot worked fine and as a bonus found some new radio stations to add to my presets.
