Default **SOLD** Trailex 7541 trailer with tire rack

**SOLD**

1996 7541 Trailex trailer with the following options: red striping, tire rack, winch, spare tire, spare tire holder, wheel plates, extra long ramps, electric brakes, LED lights.

Easily fit my 993 race car and 997. Brake shoes were checked by my trailer guy and are well over the minimum. Wheels have been freshly refinished as have various components such as tie downs, steel nuts and other hardware.

Comes with tire rack pole, two wheel plates and about eight Tire Rack seasonal tire totes (not 100% certain on how many). I think the totes are new and I may have more than eight.

I used this trailer to haul my Porsche 911 and Miata, but it can fit many other cars. It's very lightweight at about 900 lbs and is svelte enough that you can pick up the front and push it around. I chose a Trailex because I wanted a very light trailer that never rusts. Also, I didn't want to buy a Suburban with its 10,000 lb towing capacity to tow a heavy steel trailer. For a Suburban, towing a 3,000 lb enclosed is no big deal.

Electric brakes are the way to go since you can control braking independently from the driver's seat with the brake controller. Surge brakes don't require a controller, but you can experience lock up issues if you try to back up on a hill due to the pendulum (according to my research a few years ago). I specifically ruled out surge brakes when I went shopping for a trailer. You'll find that most serious tow people/track guys go electric.

https://www.felling.com/benefits-of-...ectric-brakes/

http://blog.gooseneck.net/hydraulic-...ectric-brakes/ From the article: Surge brake maintenance can be time-consuming and troublesome. Regular maintenance and servicing of trailer brakes is necessary to ensure that they'll work properly when you need them most.

You'll need a brake controller that can run you as little as $30 to maybe $120 for a Tekonsha Prodigy. You'll need a connector for the pigtail on the trailer. I pulled with a 4Runner and two Sequoias, so all of those trucks had wiring built in. Your truck may already have wiring, but it can be easily installed if it's not there.

These sell new for about $8,000 with the tire rack, winch, spare tire, wheel plates, LEDs, long ramps, spare tire holder, spare tire, etc. On the used market, I think you'll see that these go for about $4,000 to $6,000. Trailexes are legendary for holding their value on the used market. If you buy one used, you can almost always sell it for what you paid, sometimes more as the new prices go up.

$4,500

Yep, 997.1 fit fine. Not sure if the 997.2 is wider.

Ryan used to load his 997.2 RS on his 7541, it was tight, an inch or so on each side if I remember correctly. Tight enough it made me look for the 8045.
