Default BMW 3GT or 5GT ?

Does anyone out here have any direct experience with either of the BMW GT models?

Wondering about usual BMW stuff: reliability, ride etc. I know they aren't the prettiest or sportiest cars BMW offers, but I am considering selling or trading my current daily driver with something softer and more family friendly, yet I don't want an SUV. The wife has that covered. So I've considered used BY

Should I believe the internet hype a out "never own one out of warranty"?

How are the 2.0 (3GT) and 3.0 (5GT) liter turbo engines?
Do yo need to replace cooling systems at 100k miles? Still to much plastic parts?

Thoughts?
TIA.

Since only crickets replied, I thought I would update.

Went and test drove a used (2016) 328ix 3GT with 65K miles. Not too bad.. but not overly impressive. Not a fan of BMWs "Sensa-Tec" or what others call "leatherette" or what we used to just call "vinyl" interior. Felt weird after a while. Otherwise, controls were well laid out. Seats were comfortable. Rear seat was cavernous. Headroom in rear was compromised by the roofline and the panoramic roof. 8spd auto mated to a 2.0L 240hp turbo engine. The engine felt strong despite the larger 3GT body. But when driven mildly, I was suprised how quick the trans was to upshift. Across a large intersection, starting from a red light, under light throttle pressure, i think the car shifted up to 3rd or 4th gear before I cleared the intersection.
Car seemed quiet. Rear visibility between the hatch and the 3 rear seat headrests was poor. Side view mirrors seemed small as well.

Also test drove a used 535ixGT. This one was older.. maybe a 2011 or 2012 with about 75K miles. 3.0L single turbo, 300hp/300tq. iirc, 6pd auto? REAL leather. Much nicer. Much larger than the 3 (as expected, its actually built on the 7 Series chassis). Despite its size, the drive was much more engaging. Better dampening. Car drove smaller than it feels. Smaller cargo hold than the 3GT, but much more passenger space. Same large panoramic roof. Less compromised rear headroom. Plenty of rear legroom. This one was more "used" than the 3GT. More obvious wear on the interior and radio/hvac buttons.

And since I was in BMW mode, also checked out a Blue 128i at used car lot on RT 50. Looked great actually. Functional interior and trunk. Reminiscent of my dads E36M3 in size. Underhood, small drips of oil(?) on the undertray pan. Wasn't sure if it was a sloppy oil change or some other source. Inside, I was suprised how cramped the footwell and shoulder room felt. I was all up to like it.. and 5 years ago or looking for a "track" car, this might have been fine. Oh well. Goals change.

And since I was still in BMW mode, considered a 320i (2016ish?) but learned that almost none of them have a folding rear seat or pass through ($500+ option apparently on the entry model) which made it a non-starter for the family needs.

I don't know much about the newer BMW's...but my son recently passed on (not free mind you) his 2015 328 diesel 4 door sedan with a 2.0 l engine, twin turbo in it (i think) to me. It is a nice car and i would think you could seat 4 in it...kids in the back. i am enjoying the great gas mileage and suppose i will keep it for a while. it is quite a peppy engine and gets up and moves fast enough and quick enough for me.

Thanks for updating that Dave. I didn't even know what a BMW GT was until I googled them after your post. I've been keeping my eye out for a "bigger" car in case grandma minivan ever poops out on me. No need for a true family truckster anymore since all my kids are driving themselves around now. We could rent for family vacations/college moves. Still see nothing that I like (at a reasonable price).

Sorry John.. Sienna's don't die. Just comes down to how many timing belts and door hinges you want to replace
