Default Birthday Drive-by Northern VA? (23 Aug 6:00 pm near Quantico)

New to this forum. I currently have a 997.1 C2S, and a 4 year old boy that is obsessed with Porsche's and all sports cars, but specifically Porsche . He is about to turn 5 in August, and I'd like to see if there is any interest in doing a birthday drive-by? If there is enough interest, I can discuss with everyone that's interested on date/time/spot to meet, etc... I am in the Northern VA area (close to Quantico). I live fairly close to 95, and it will be easy coming in and out of the neighborhood since it's a loop. If you are interested, it will be 23 August, and as for time, I will work with everyone that's interested and come up with a good time for everyone...for now, let's say 6 pm.

Welcome.

Cool thing to do for your boy.

Give us at least your first name -- we are a small, friendly community here, and we like to know who were are corresponding with. There is an Introduce Yourself thread.

Sure thing! My name is Robbie, and I got into Porsche's just last year around this time. My wife has been wanting a black 911 convertible, so I thought why not! I got her a 997.1 C2S for her birthday, and we both LOVE IT! Now I need to find a Turbo coupe for me! I am sad that I didn't really take the Porsche plunge a long time ago! So, of course, my 4 year old is just as obsessed now. Unfortunately, with this COVID situation, we won't be having a party with his friends; so the next best thing is to bring the "party" to him if I can.

Keep your eyes open for info on PCA Potomac's Fall High Performance Driving Clinic. It is highly recommended, and a lot of fun. Also consider trying out autocross. There are still some PCA Potomac events going on.

Welcome and only wish I didn't wait until I turned 50 before buying my first Porsche. There is an autocross event coming up soon Aug. 1 at Summit Point, WV. AX is a hoot and gateway to DE events. Check out the video https://pcapotomac.org/activities/autocross

Welcome and congrats on the 997!

If he likes Porsches and cars in general, maybe see what kind of cars & coffee events are being held. Not sure if Katies (Saturday morning - Great Falls) is still doing anything this summer, but my son told me the one at Dulles Landing was on this past Sunday morning.

Morning might also be easier. schedule wise for folks, as going out for a morning run is more justifiable while the wife/kids sleep in.. just saying..

Good looking car and young superhero! Is he checking coolant? oil? belt tension? lol.

As JoeG mentioned, there is a Porsche Autocross on Aug 1. Sign up first, then show up. No experience necessary! You would need to provide your own helmet (no loaners during Covid) and have some fun. There will be a few more events this fall (at least we hope there will be!)

You should check with Steve Bobbitt about the no experience autocrossers at the Pfest event. There was talk of limitations because of not being able to put instructors (aka navigators) in the car.

Thank you! He was "helping" with the air filter (after I already put it back lol), so I let him tinker with it, and when I was standing back there, I thought that would be a cool pic to take.

Katies is definitely closed. I'll check out the autocross thing though. As for time, if people would like to do it, morning is no problem.

Katie's is open again - and, though lower volume, still a great trip on a nice Saturday morning. I was there 2 weekends ago!
