Default How Long to Get to Mosport from Baltimore?

Google says its about 9 hours to Mosport from Baltimore but that doesn't include stopping for customs at Canada.

Anybody been to Mosport? How long does it really take to get there?

Went a few years ago, once by way of Niagra because it was there, took quite a while and an overnight .Other couple times has always been after doing Mt Tremblant, so can't help as left in the evening and stopped overnight. Customs did stop me once trailering the 914/6 because I had filled 6 jugs of gas in the States, held me up for almost an hour and then demanded something like $1.50 in duty, other times a long line. Allow an hour for customs.

Fill the gas jugs, leave a rag hanging out of one of them, drive through customs...

I was just up there yesterday for the Tudor race. The improvements Ron Fellows has made to that track is phenomenal. The infamous Turn 2 has been tamed a bit and now has asphalt run off instead of the grass that would always slide you into the tire wall. Facilities are also improved as well.

I went through customs at the thousand island border crossing. I think it's quicker than Niagara. You want to avoid going through Toronto, especially on Sunday afternoon in evenings. I had dinner with friends after the race because the 401 was a parking lot.

All the trips I did with the car in tow, I never had any problems.

Niagra route is not the quicker one, but if you have not seen the falls, worth taking it in, Thousand Island more direct, still a good 8 hours. The pucker factor in "old turn 2" was great!!

Dirk is right, if you haven't seen Niagra Falls the detour is worth it; we had a great time! Mosport is an awesome track, flowing and very fast with great elevation change!

I-81 is definitely the way to go from this area, and the 1,000 Islands area is beautiful - love the view from the tall and seemingly impossibly narrow bridge! Customs into Canada is usually fairly easy and quick, as long as you miss peak times. We never had much issue at 8:30AM-ish. Have done the trip in one day but it is a long day; prefer to stay in Watertown, NY which is near the border (more necessary when going to Tremblant, but more relaxed even when going to Mosport). Customs re-entering the US is much tighter and can take longer. If taking a race car be sure to have proof of ownership, and get yellow insurance cards from your carrier beforehand; you have Global Entry take your card; they accept it in the dedicated Nexis Lane.

Lodging is a slight issue at Mosport in that it is remote and none of the hotels or restaurants are very close. They are all in the Bowmanville area about 35 minutes away.

Distance question covered but have to say that Mosport is a great track and very fun. Going flat out up Mario Andretti and then keeping it floored until the right turn in point takes some guts.

I am in NJ and towing up through 1000 Islands (I-81) was around 9-10 hrs, so add another 3 hrs from B'more. The border crossing was about 30 minutes. The only drawback of going this way is that there is about 4 hours from the border to Bowmansville, and I did not drive as fast as I would have in the US.

I was in Toronto over the 4th of July weekend. As noted, even on weekends, the road through Toronto is packed. The crossing into Canada at the Niagara Falls on Thursday evening took about an hour, but it took 2+ hours to cross back on Sunday and that was considering cutting past many cars that were in the proper line to get across. Buffalo crossing may be better.

Bottom line, it is a long haul that I plan to make again because the track is great. Oh, there seems to be only one decent hotel (Holiday Inn?) in Bowmansville.

Did it two summers ago, a PCA DE. Saw Dr John and Melony there with their turbos as well as Eric in his red RSA. Lots if fun mixing it up with Dr John.
Track has some pucker factor which makes it really fun.
Hotels very far away.
Well worth the visit.
Planning on going back again some day.
