Not GMC or Chevy, but I've been more than happy with my '12 Frontier. Hasn't had an issue since I've owned it - 4WD, Crew Cab, manual. Same platform for the better part of a decade so you'll get old styling but all the kinks have been worked out mostly.
Or you can wait until 2020: https://jalopnik.com/rivian-r1t-the-...hat-1830646607

$37K For a little 2wd!? I got a 13,000 mile 2015 Chevy 3500HD crew cab long bed for under $31,000 all told. New small truck prices are nuts. In face truck prices overall are nuts. Can hit $100K easy with all the silly stuff.

We currently own five Tacomas, mostly for my wife's equine veterinary business. All are double-cabs with V6 motors, 4WD, and auto trannys. I keep up with regular maintenance, but they do not lead easy lives.
2003 Taco, ~550,000 miles. Original motor still runs great. We did replace the tranny sometime around the 500K mark. Retired from regular business duty, but still used as a farm beater. We have two 2011 Tacos used by the veterinarians working for my wife. They are loaded with vet supplies and are taken on farm calls. One is just over 200K miles, and the other is just shy of 200K miles. No problems with either truck. 2016 Taco is my wife's current work truck, having replaced the 2003 for her regular use. It has about 40K miles. 2008 Taco is my son's truck. It has around 215K miles. We bought it used with about 160K. We did have a problem with the rear differential that required replacement. Up through last August I was using a 2005 Taco as our tow vehicle: towing my 996, towing horses, towing a camper. I couldn't haul ass up mountains with it, but it worked quite well and did all we asked of it until a drunk driver killed it. We did replace this with a 2016 Super Duty to become our new tow vehicle. So, I give a vote for a Taco. Beware that trucks made from something like 2005 through 2009 or so had problems with rusted frames. You can find plenty about this in Google. So, if you are looking at a used Taco from before this decade, be sure to have someone give a thorough inspection of the frame.
